A downloadable game for Windows and Android

It's chess — but every piece has an element, and cards let you break the rules.

You already know how to play: move like normal chess, corner the enemy king, win. The twist — an attack doesn't automatically win. Fire beats Nature, Nature beats Water, Water beats Fire, like rock-paper-scissors. And along the way you collect cards that bend the rules: change a piece's element, hide a trap, move twice in a row.

⭐ Free demo — play it right now, alone or online.

single player against the AI, online multiplayer, and a practice sandbox, on Windows and Android. If you can play chess, you'll get this in five minutes

What makes it fun

  • Every attack is a gamble you can stack — check the elements before you strike.
  • Cards shake up the board — one per turn, and playing one doesn't cost your move.
  • Play alone — the computer opponent puts up a real fight, especially when it's losing.
  • Play with friends — share a short code that works on anything: PC vs PC, PC vs Android phone, any mix.
  • It's still real chess — all the rules you know are in here.

What happens when you attack

The whole system in one picture — every piece carries one of these three elements.

Your piece lands on an enemy piece. Two things can happen:

You're the stronger element → you win. Their piece is gone, you take the square. Simple.

You're equal or weaker → the attack bounces. Nobody dies. Your piece jumps back where it came from and both pieces are frozen for a short while (frozen pieces just sit there — they can't move until they thaw). But here's the good part: you get a card for trying. And your piece changes into the element that would have won, so it's ready for a rematch.

Losing a piece also earns you a card. So even when things go badly, your hand keeps growing — falling behind is never the end.

A note on the royals: the Queen has no element — when she attacks, she always wins. The King never fights and never freezes. You win by checkmate, just like real chess.

Same element — both freeze for a turn.

Attacking your weakness — the bounce costs you more: your attacker freezes longer than the defender.

The cards

You start with a hand of cards and earn more as you play. Use up to one per turn — it's free, your piece still gets to move.

CardWhat it does
ElementChange one of your pieces to the element shown on the card.
ColorChange one of your pieces to any element you pick.
TrapHide a trap on an empty square. The next enemy piece to step there gets frozen. Your own pieces walk over it safely.
+2Move the same piece twice in a row — or wake up one of your frozen pieces early.
+4Draw 3 new cards — one is always a Color card.
RecycleTrade a card you don't want for 2 new ones.
StunFreeze any enemy piece where it stands — stacks on a freeze it already has.
ReverseRewind an enemy's last move: it slides back, and any piece it captured comes back to life.

Change a piece's element right before attacking so you win the fight. Hide a trap on the square your opponent wants. Move twice and strike before they can react. That's where the fun lives.

Here's every card up close — what it looks like in your hand, what it does, and when to reach for it.

Element — lock in a fixed element

Element comes in three flavors — Fire, Nature, Water — and it permanently turns one of your pieces into whatever element the card shows. It's the common, everyday version of the color-swap: you take the element you're dealt, not the one you'd pick. Use it to patch a weak matchup, or to prime a piece the turn before you attack so the fight is already won when you land. Queens are element-less royalty, so they can't be changed.

Set the element, then eat — the defender never had a chance.

Change Color — pick any element you want

Color is the premium version of Element: instead of a fixed element, you choose — Fire, Nature, or Water, whatever the moment needs. Flip a piece to the exact element that beats the piece you're about to attack, then strike the same turn. It's the cleanest way to guarantee a capture, and the card you'll fight hardest to hold onto for the perfect moment.

Pick the winning element, then take the piece.

Trap — hide a freeze on the board

Lay a trap on any empty square. It's invisible to your opponent — the next enemy piece that steps on it gets frozen in place and can't move for a few turns, while your own pieces walk right over it safely. Guard a promotion lane, cover the square your opponent desperately wants, or bait them into a corner they can't escape. The best traps are the ones they never see coming.

They step on it, they freeze — your pieces pass untouched.

+2 — move twice, or thaw a friend

+2 lets the same piece move twice in one turn — chain two steps to reach further than your opponent is defending, slip past a blockade, or run a checkmate they didn't think you could set up. Played on one of your own frozen pieces instead, it thaws the freeze early so that piece is back in the fight sooner. Two tempo tricks in one card.

One piece, two moves — reach where they aren't looking.

+4 — refuel your hand

Running low on options? +4 draws three fresh cards straight into your hand in a single play — and one of them is always a Color card, the wild that repaints any piece. It's your reset button when the cards you're holding just don't fit the board.

Three new cards, one guaranteed wild.

Recycle — trade up

Stuck with a card that just won't help this game? Recycle trades one unwanted card for two new ones — turning a dead draw into fresh chances. A small play that quietly keeps your hand sharp.

One card in, two cards out — never sit stuck with a dead draw.

Stun — opps wag ka muna gagalaw

Point Stun at any enemy piece and freeze it where it stands — it simply can't move for a turn. Even better, it stacks: drop it on a piece that's already frozen and the freeze lasts even longer. Shut down the knight about to fork you, or pin an attacker in place while you set up. (Kings never freeze — same rule as everywhere else.)

Lock down their best piece exactly when it matters.

Reverse — rewind the enemy's move

Reverse is the panic button that undoes their last turn. The enemy piece slides back toward where it came from, and any piece it captured comes back to life on the square it fell. It's best-effort — a blocked path is simply skipped — but at its best it snatches a lost piece right back out of the graveyard. And when you're cornered in a last stand, Reverse is the one card you can always still play.

Undo the capture — your fallen piece walks back onto the board.

Cornered? Reverse is the escape hatch when nothing else is legal.

Ways to play

  • Single Player — fight the AI. It thinks, it plays cards, and it fights hardest when it's cornered.
  • Online multiplayer — open the room list to see games waiting for an opponent and join one, or create your own room: public so anyone can find it, or private so only someone with your room code can enter. When you join, the host gets a join request and accepts before the match starts — nobody barges in. It works across devices (PC players and phone players face each other), and if your connection hiccups mid-match the game pauses, waits, and lets you reconnect — even after closing the game. Your match isn't lost.
  •  Practice — a free playground. Control both sides, turn the computer on or off, give yourself any card, undo moves, drop pieces anywhere on the board (or clear it entirely), and even switch the elements off for a round of plain classic chess.

What's coming at full launch

This demo is the complete core game — everything above is playable right now. For the official launch, here's what we're building next:

  1. Ranked play — the game finds you an opponent at your skill level automatically: press play, get matched, and earn a rating as you win.
  2. Leaderboards — see where you stand against everyone else, and against your friends.
  3. Match statistics — stats view: your history, win rate, captures, card plays. And if you'd rather just play, you can hide it entirely.
  4. Pre-moves — queue your next move during your opponent's turn, the way speed-chess players do.
  5. New game modes — more ways to play on top of the core rules.
  6. Skins and themes — new boards, piece sets, and card looks to make the game yours.
  7. Polish — more sounds, animations, and little touches that make every move feel good.
